Dify Alternatives (October 2026)
TL;DR: Dify is an open-source platform for agentic workflows and RAG apps, run on Dify Cloud, as a free Community Edition or as Dify Enterprise. Swfte Studio is a managed builder for agents and workflows on the same platform as a model gateway. If you need to self-host an open-source codebase, Dify fits; if testing and governed releases around agents matter more, look at Swfte.
About Dify and why teams compare it
Dify calls itself "The Platform for Production-Ready Agentic Workflows". It is made by LangGenius, Inc., which announced a $30 million round in March 2026. Teams build agents, workflows and knowledge pipelines in one workspace, publish them as web apps, APIs, embeds or MCP-compatible tools, and add model providers and tools from a marketplace. You can use Dify Cloud, run the Community Edition yourself, or buy Dify Enterprise for VPC, on-premises or air-gapped deployment. Teams compare it with Swfte when they want a visual builder with governance, testing and release controls around agents, or when they want to avoid running the infrastructure. This page compares the two on published facts and says who should pick which.
Dify sits in the Open-source LLM app and agentic workflow platform category. In short: An open-source platform for building agents, workflows and RAG apps on one canvas, available as Dify Cloud, a free Community Edition you host yourself, or Dify Enterprise. Pricing as published is Per workspace, billed annually. Dify Cloud: Sandbox free (200 message credits, 1 member, 5 apps); Professional $590 per year (5,000 credits per month, 3 members, 50 apps); Team $1,590 per year (10,000 credits per month, 50 members, 200 apps). Self-hosted: Community free; Enterprise custom, contact sales. It is best for Teams building RAG and agent apps that want an open-source platform they can run on their own infrastructure.

Who should pick which
Pick Dify if
- You need to run the platform on your own servers, in your VPC or air-gapped: Dify documents Docker Compose, Kubernetes and an Enterprise self-hosted edition.
- You want an open-source codebase you can read and run, and can live with the licence conditions on multi-tenant use and branding.
- You are building RAG apps and want knowledge pipelines, an embeddable chat UI and publishing as an API or MCP server in one tool.
- You want a human-input step that can be answered by email or from an external system, built into the workflow canvas.
- You want to export app definitions as YAML and keep them in your own repository.
Pick Swfte if
- The work is agents and model decisions, and you want the builder and the model gateway on one platform.
- You want testing, versioned releases and rollbacks in the build flow: Studio lists A/B experiments between chatflow versions and version rollback, with golden sets, regression runs and release channels in development.
- You would rather not run infrastructure: Swfte Studio is a managed service, with customer data at rest in AWS Ireland, and Nexus is available next to it for agent governance.
- You are comfortable with Swfte’s current gaps: SAML SSO and SCIM are in development, dedicated or private deployment is scoped as an engagement and is not self-serve, and the integration catalogue is smaller.
What Dify does well
- Open-source code with a free Community Edition you deploy yourself, by Docker Compose or Kubernetes
- Visual workflow studio with agents, knowledge pipelines, a marketplace of model providers, tools and MCP integrations, and a Human Input node for approvals
- Apps can be published as web apps, APIs, embeds or MCP-compatible tools, and Dify can call HTTP MCP servers
- Cloud plans are priced per workspace per year, with a free Sandbox and Professional listed at $590 a year
- States SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001:2022 audits, and says it does not use AI interaction data for model training
Trade-offs to weigh
- The licence is Apache 2.0 with added conditions: no multi-tenant use of the source and no removing the logo, unless you have written authorisation
- SSO is listed on Enterprise only, and Professional is capped at 3 team members and 50 apps, Team at 50 members and 200 apps
- Cloud message credits are for trying models; once used up you switch to your own API keys
- Restoring versions and exporting specific DSL versions need a paid plan, per its docs
When Swfte is the better choice
When you want agents and workflows governed on the same platform as the model gateway, with testing and versioned releases, and a managed service suits you. Dify is the better fit if you must run the platform yourself under an open-source licence.
Swfte Studio builds agents and workflows visually, and uses the Connect gateway for model access, so routing, failover and cost tracking are shared. Studio lists testing and evaluation, semantic versions with rollbacks, and human-approval steps in workflows. Nexus adds agent governance.
Swfte is not a drop-in replacement for Dify. Dify has an open-source codebase and can run on your own servers; Swfte Studio is a managed service. Swfte is also earlier on enterprise identity: SAML SSO and SCIM are in development, dedicated or private deployment is an engagement, not self-serve, and the integration catalogue is smaller.
Where Swfte fits
Agents that decide, with tests around them
Where a model chooses the next step, calls tools and may need approval, Studio lists A/B experiments between chatflow versions and version rollback, with golden sets, regression runs and release channels in development around the model steps.
Workflows on a managed platform
If you would rather not operate a Dify deployment, Studio runs the workflows as a managed service, with the Connect gateway handling model routing and failover.
One platform for workflows and model access
Studio uses the Connect gateway, so routing, failover and cost tracking are shared with the workflows that use them.
Keep Dify where you must self-host
If some apps have to run inside your own network, keep those on Dify and move the agent workflows that can run on a managed service to Studio.
How to migrate from Dify to Swfte
1. List your Dify apps and their dependencies
Note each app type, its model providers, plugins, tools and knowledge bases. Check the tools against Studio’s 100+ tool integrations plus an API for custom systems.
2. Note where self-hosting is required
Apps that must run on your own servers or in an air-gapped network should stay where they are. Swfte Studio is a managed service, and dedicated deployment is scoped as an engagement, not self-serve.
3. Export apps as DSL for reference
Dify exports an app as a YAML file with its workflow, node settings, model parameters and prompts. We do not list an import for Dify DSL, so use the export as a record to rebuild from. API keys, knowledge content and logs are not included.
4. Rebuild one workflow in Studio
Recreate the trigger, the agent or prompt, the tools and any approval step. Studio’s free plan includes 10 workflows, 5 agents and 2,000 executions per month, enough to test one case.
5. Move knowledge and re-test on real inputs
Re-upload source documents rather than expecting the knowledge base to travel. Run 20 to 50 real inputs through Studio’s testing and compare with the Dify app.
6. Run both, then cut over what fits
Send live traffic to both for a while and compare outputs, failures and cost. Move the apps where results hold, and keep Dify for the ones that need your own infrastructure.

Frequently asked questions about Dify alternatives
Is Swfte a Dify alternative?
For agents and workflows on a managed service, with testing and governance around them, yes. If you need an open-source codebase you can self-host, Dify fits better: Swfte Studio is a managed service and dedicated deployment is scoped as an engagement.
Is Dify free and open source?
The Community Edition is free to self-host, and the code is under the Dify Open Source License, which its repository describes as Apache 2.0 with supplementary conditions. Those conditions bar operating a multi-tenant environment with the source and removing the logo or copyright in the console without written authorisation. Dify Cloud also has a free Sandbox plan.
How much does Dify cost?
The pricing page lists Dify Cloud per workspace, billed annually: Sandbox free, Professional $590 per year and Team $1,590 per year. Self-hosted Community is free, and Enterprise is custom. Model usage on your own API keys is billed by the model provider.
Can I self-host Dify?
Yes. The repository describes a Docker Compose install needing at least 2 CPU cores and 4 GB RAM, with guidance for Kubernetes. Dify Enterprise adds deployment in your own VPC, on-premises or air-gapped, with SSO, RBAC and audit logs.
Can I import my Dify apps into Swfte?
No. We do not list an import for Dify DSL files. Dify exports apps as YAML, which is useful as a record of what to rebuild in Studio. API keys, knowledge content and logs are not in the export.
Does Dify support AI agents and MCP?
Yes. Dify lists agent building, and its docs say it can import tools from MCP servers over HTTP and publish your own apps as MCP servers. Studio lists agents and multi-agent orchestration; for MCP see our MCP gateway guide.
Is Dify SOC 2 compliant?
Dify states it completed SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001:2022 audits and says reports are available from security@dify.ai. Swfte does not hold a SOC 2 report or an ISO 27001 certificate and does not sign HIPAA BAAs today; a SOC 2 Type I audit is in preparation, and the trust page has the current status.
Does Dify train models on my data?
Its privacy policy says it will not use your AI interaction data for model training. If you bring your own API key, the model provider’s own terms control. For Swfte, see the trust centre.
Dify or Langflow: which should I pick?
They overlap as visual builders for LLM apps; we have a separate comparison of the two. Neither replaces a governed release process on its own, which is where Studio’s testing and versioning sit.
